Whilst in India, Batul (owner and founder of Buddha to Buddha) joined a meditation centre. His first meeting was with a person who stayed in this centre for many years. It was a long and impressive conversation. A session such as this is known as “Buddha to Buddha”; a conversation from one human being to another. On this trip he sketched a bracelet on a piece of paper. He wanted to design a bracelet that you would feel and be conscious of; it had to be both solid and strong.
Only days later he met some old fashioned craftsmen making silver jewels by hand and he believed, from the soul. These craftsmen learnt their skills from their fathers who were, in turn taught by their fathers. Batul showed them his sketches and soon the first design was produced.
After Batul returned to Amsterdam, he arranged space to display his bracelet in one of Holland’s most prestigious fashion stores. The unique and bold idea was to combine jewellery with fashion. It was an instant success; people loved the shapely and powerful pieces.
The uniqueness of the line was recognized at first by the hip and trendy from the Amsterdam nightlife. After seeing famous Dutch DJ’s, international soccer players and TV celebrities wearing the chunky silver pieces, it quickly became a “must have” by anyone with keen fashion sense.
In 2006 at a jewellery fair in Paris, Buddha to Buddha was awarded for having the most inspiring collection. These days in Europe, Buddha to Buddha is a well known brand, worn by freedom loving people who like inspiring and unique designs.
Buddha to Buddha USA proudly launched the immaculate and timeless collection in the second half of 2007 at its showroom in New York City. High end, trendsetting boutiques recognised the beauty of the line right away, promising that Buddha to Buddha will soon be just as well known in The States as it is in Europe.
